The Travelling Festival on Human Rights – VIVISECTfest

Topic: My Enemies: Nationalism and Xenophobia

In 2006 and 2007, the programme of the "My Enemies: Nationalism and Xenophobia" Travelling Festival was implemented in co-operation with local partners in Belgrade, Kikinda, Novi Pazar, Ruma, Kula and Novi Bečej (Serbia); Mostar and Tuzla (B&H); Berlin (Germany). 

Within the Travelling Festival on Human Rights – VIVISECTfest the following programmes were implemented:

Exhibition of photographs At the Beginning of the New Century by photojournalists from the dailies like "Dnevnik" and "Magyar Szò", taken between 2000 and 2006 and showing incidents like knocking down tombstones, graphitti expressing hatred and hooligan behaviour of the sports fans.   

Reconstruction of Rona Haviv’s "Blood and Honey" exhibition of photographs titled Anno Domini 2002. The exhibition comprises 64 photographs by Ron Haviv which were exhibited in Novi Sad in September 2002, together with the comments written then by the visitors. The pages of the book VIVISECT, which includes Ron Haviv’s photographs and the related comments by the visitors written beside each exhibited photo, are also exhibited.

Exhibition of photographs by Tarik Samarah - Graffiti, comprising eight photographs which show the graphitti of the Dutch troops written on the walls of the Battery Manufacturing Plant in Potočari during their mandate in Srebrenica. The Royal Netherlands Troops were deployed within the UNPROFOR peacekeeping troops in Bosnia and Herzegovina, between 1993 and 1995, and were in charge of the Srebrenica protected zone.

Exhibition of applied posters on the topic My Enemies: Nationalism and Xenophobia organised in co-operation with the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. The exhibits are the works of the third year students of the Section for Graphic Communication, and the participants of the Tremafest ART camp held in Ruma.

Public debates to the topic of Speech of Hatred and Nationalism: Causes and Effects and the promotion of the publication of the same title, printed in Serbian, Hungarian and Albanian language. The public debates and creative workshops for making applied posters on the topic "My Enemies: Nationalism and Xenophobia" are organised with the aim of providing information to youth on the phenomena of the nationalism, xenophobia and speech of hatred to be able to recognise them in their own surrounding.
