Čila David
Čila David began to take photographs already in primary school, thanks to Andraš Otoš senior. She is the member of Photo-Cinema Club "Branko Bajić". She graduated in 1986 at Yugoslav Institute of Journalism in Belgrade, where her mentor was Tomislav Peternek, a legendary person of Yugoslav newspaper photography. Since 1987, she has worked at Magyar Szò as a student of Bora Vojnović. In the period from 1994 to 1995, she initiated and edited weekly photo-pages of the daily Magyar Szò. She is the author and co-author of numerous exhibitions and she has won many awards. Floods, earthquakes, demonstrations have been recorded on her photographs. During the war in the former Yugoslavia, she was arrested on several occasions. For the photograph she took on 5th October 2000, she won Silver Peacock Feather, and one of her photographs on the flood in Vojvodina was awarded with Golden Peacock Feather. Her photographs of Čenej farms were awarded with the first prize in 2004. Čila David’s photographs were published in several magazines and newspapers in Serbia and abroad. Her photographs were used as illustration for books, posters, catalogues, and advertisements.
