Tone Stojko

He has dealt with photojournalism for more than twenty years as a photographer and editor of photography at the Slovenian weekly magazine MLADINA. He is one of MLADINA’s photographers who took photographs of the first war in the former Yugoslavia, in Slovenia in 1991. His photographs were published in the MLADINA book "Ten Days of War for Slovenia" (1991). He deals with theatre photography; he has taken over 150,000 theatre photographs. He has taken photographs for Drama SNG Ljubljana, Mestno gledališče ljubljansko, Slovensko mladinsko gledališče, gledališče Glej, Drama SNG Maribor, etc. He has exhibited his photographs at 50 individual exhibitions in the country and abroad, and published six individual books of photographs and the book of short stories.

In 1992, together with his son Simon Stojko Falko, he founded a theatre documentation centre in Ljubljana – Prodok and Prodok teatar TV. On professional video tapes, he recorded almost 1,000 theatre plays.

He was awarded with the following awards: STUDIA, Press Photo YU 72 (Belgrade, 1972), Zlatna ptica (Slovenia, 1973), award Prešernov sklad (Slovenia, 1984), EFIAP, Grand Prix and Gold Award for Photograph Collection at International Triennial "Theatre in the Art of Photography" (Novi Sad, 1989), Župančič Award (Ljubljana, 1993).
