Applied Posters Dedicated to the Issues of the Human Rights Festival - VIVISECTfest

The exhibition of the applied posters by the students of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Department of Graphic design, Section for Graphic Communications, represents a new form of co-operation established in 2005 between the organisers of the Human Rights Festival – VIVISECTfest and the Academy of Arts.

This is the first example of direct co-operation between one NGO (Vojvodjanka - Regional Women's Initiative) and the Academy of Arts in Serbia which became a constituent part of the educational programme carried out at an institution of high education.

The programme is implemented owing to the initiative by Darko Vuković, Professor in the Course on Posters at the Section for Graphic Communications, Academy of Arts, Novi Sad. The students are involved in a special task of creating applied posters on the topics dealt by each new edition of the Human Rights Festival – VIVISECTfest.

The exhibition of the applied posters made by the students is organised in Novi Sad every year, on May 9^th, on the Day of Europe, in co-operation with the Provincial Ombudsman. Also, these exhibitions are included in the Travelling Festival programme organised in the country and abroad. Within the Travelling Festival programme we also organise applied poster creative workshops which gather young participants. The works of the students, and other works created at special workshops in every town where the Travelling Festival programme has been implemented, make a new exhibition.

The activities we organise every year in co-operation with the Academy of Arts and the Provincial Ombudsman, have been well received by wider public and have enriched the Human Rights Travelling Festival – VIVISECTfest with yet another event – exhibition of the applied poster.

In 2005, the exhibition of the applied poster on the topic Farewell to Arms, Farewell to Wars, was organised. Its authors were: Atila Kuruc, Bojan Miljanović, Valentina Broštean, Željko Katanić, Sara Kujundžić, Tijana Jovanović, Nina Karlavaris, Timotije Odadžić, Svetlana Ninković and Snežana Nikšić.

In 2006, the exhibition of the applied poster on the topic My Enemies: Nationalism and Xenophobia was organised. Its authors were: Snežana Nikšić, Aleksandra Jakovljević, Daša Ćorković, Dragan Bibin, Filip Z. Nemet, Laslo Antal, Nevena Katanić, Nikola Berbakov and Tanja Mirković.

In 2007, the exhibition of the applied poster on the topic Terrorism, No, Thank You was organised. Its authors were: Stojan Mančić, Nenad Jelovac and Aleksandra Tarbuk.
